Topic: Severe npc ECM issues.

After an hour of testing and nearly losing a best named fitted heavy mech, I've come to the conclusion that npcs are not just cheating in terms of energy drains/neuts, but also in use of their godlike ecm skills.

I was testing this on a "non-ewar bot npc" it was in fact a generic Prometheus, granted a supreme ranked one. And he was 100% of the time successfully jamming me, every cycle, every time, no exceptions. By my math, if it were a player, with level 10 skills across the board, "and even in a bot that is ewar dedicated" would have had jammed me only 1 in 3 cycles. Statistically speaking, this bot should have jammed me 1 in 9 times. And it does not have the excuse of fitting multiple jammers, as these bots only have 1 ewar slot.

So this is a plea to the developers, stop giving npcs access to cheat codes please, it's disheartening enough to have a swarm of npcs being able to neut you indefinitely and suffer zero penalties. But no longer being able to shoot ones with ecm unless your packing multiple amplifiers or 500m+ weapons, is just going to far. (And in the event you gain aggro from several npcs, absolutely nothing on Nia can touch them solo.)

I'm aware this is likely just a bug, but figured I'd write it all out just in case this is one of those "It's not a bug, it's a really bad feature" things. lol

I know several others were also typing in chat the same issue, and how the npc hunting of higher level ones has been ramped up 300% over the patch. It's actually at the point that all but the oldest and best fit players have almost no chance of hunting many of the higher level spawns now unless in a group.

Re: Severe npc ECM issues.

I experienced a similar problem but with demobs. 5 bots demobilized me and they never stopped until I was out of range. I was going 3KPH, if I hadn't of made good use of the terrain I'd of died. Like I said in IRC the new AI makes things quite a bit imbalanced.

Re: Severe npc ECM issues.

Effects will get balanced in the next patch. Lets just say, when we created these new groups, We aimed at squad encounters. smile Bring your buddy to the fight yarr

If you want to do something alone because you bored at high level: look for missions with "Special Bounty Hunting" tag cool

Bounty Hunting missions mean you have to kill something which means you have to attack a group of hugely overpowered NPC's. How does this help?

Re: Severe npc ECM issues.

seems like you can never make it right to everyone... first they complain that its to easy to farm the highest rank npcs alone... and now, its to hard ?

It sounds a bit overpowered, but that you have to bring a group is a nice feature IMHO.

You know Kami, and I don't mean to rush anyone, but decent NPC AI would fix this on both ends...

Until then I see no way for NPCs strike a proper chord of difficulty with players. The patches you'll be doing to the mobs might make things better, but AI is the only solution.

Re: Severe npc ECM issues.

My complaint isn't so much that it's "hard" it's that the npcs now downright "CHEAT" in not just energy warfare, but now also ewar, (And I haven't even checked new npc suppressors.)

If you want to make them hard as players to kill, at least make them work by the same mechanics and restrictions players have.

Re: Severe npc ECM issues.

Bounty Hunting mission type isn't equal to Special Bounty Hunting.
That thing is only require you to shoot down 2 npcs, although its always a very tough combo. But only 2 of them, not five or more.
Special Bounty Hunting Missions are accessible above Confidentiality level 1. (atleast lev2, which is 1.00 standing with a corp)

About the npcs: Yes, we working on an AI version, that will have energy and will not be able to use anything forever... also it will be drainable/neutralizable. When? It will require a few months until we get to a really nice version AI.

When is irrelevant to me, just letting you know that trying to patch in some sort of good difficulty without AI is kind of futile.
