From the available chat logs I managed to condense the entire session. It's chronologically ordered with the answer to each question being attached to each question. I hope this is beneficial to others as it answered a lot of player questions.

[20:12:31] <Akumaka> Will there be more Tier 1 module and robot npc buy and sell orders seeded by  to the market come launch?  Something to set some base values?  As it is, you spend 20k NIC to repair a looted module, and the only buy order is for 100 NIC to 1000 NIC if there is one at all, and sell orders are rediculously overpriced.

[20:45:39] <Siddy MKII> Is there going to be range increase in long range wepons, when the artificial 1km range limit will be removed. Currently there is no point using long range turrets over short range turrets in PVP.

Everything except Drones/Faction Drones drop decoders, lower level decoders quite plentiful indeed, but higher levels are very rare.

There were a lot of questions that went unanswered and some that got answered a few times. I left in only the official answers.

Decoders are like kernel research. You get less and lower quality decoders the lower the NPC tier with the random chance of higher level decoders (Or some spawns and bugged as I got a level 6 decoder from a 3rd tier NPC on alpha island many times).

I'll edit the question from the log and Ulviirala post can contain it.

It's hard to define unreadable. I just got myself a new 32 inch TV because the last hotel I stayed at didn't have a TV.. Anyway, long story short it works and looks find. On a larger viewing area it should become easier to read.

Are you running in full screen mode or Windowed mode? There has been a long discussion about font size. It's hard to balance it as making it larger will mean everything takes up more screen space which for some people would be annoying. It's mainly unreadable on larger resolutions on smaller screens.

just like chat but there is a bit of a fix for that

the UI needs to scale properly when increasing resolution or at least make it manually scalable like every other "modern" game (including MMOs)

A fully scalable UI would be nice bit it would require a lot of work and as everything is static at the moment I assume it would mean rewriting most of the UI. Not a short or easy task. In the long run it would be nice but honestly "That other game" has the same issues and it's not been changed yet..

Sorry But I have to correct you, higher resolutions on a SMALLER screen are where the problem is ie 1080p on a 20" will make it a lot harder to read than 1080p on 47". 

It sounds to me like you have a resolution / screen size that is not suitable for your use.  1920x1080 on a 23" should be absolutly fine but i would not go lower.

Yes.  I'm very happy I decided to go with the 24" 1080p instead of the 20" one.

Its all about pixel density, or pixels per inch.

now if i was using a 19" monitor on a desk i would be practically sitting on the screen so even a very small font size would not be a problem
now as screen size goes up you can sit further and further back from the screen and at the same the resolution is higher so that a font at say 16pt is more like 10pt
go ahead and try it - a rez of 1020x768 (or whatever) everything looks big block and pretty darn ugly usually- now rez of 1920x1080 - yup, better looking but all text is smaller
fortunately we have a tool to enlarge the font for chat - get one for the UI like most games have - not only can you change font size but color too

now again not only does the realestate that the chosen font for this game get smaller as resolution goes up but on bigger screens that lots of people are using (except for the developers) like 32", 42" or 65" (my particular size with a native rez of 1920x1080) we are not sitting right on top of the screen but much further back making the problem worse

i've been playing the OB with a friend who is using a 24" monitor at the desk and he reports the same issues so this seems like a common problem/complaint

and yes, i know EVE has the same problem but just because they won't fix it doesn't mean it shouldn't be done here

make it a manual process so the user can decide how much realestate my "balance" takes up on the screen

how about a GM/DEV check out LOTRO and see how it is done properly

lets see the physical size of the text does not go down as the size of the monitor goes up does it?
In fact it is totally dependent upon resolution, and perhaps thinking about resolution screeen size and distance from the viewer should be part of the whole decsion in purchsing a monitor? i know it is for me.


Hint try scaling fonts in wondows and see how far that gets you (yes i know you can do it but try it and see how well every thing copes).

Sit closer?... You're too far away. I have a 32 inch monitor and a 22 inch monitor. One's for laying in bed and watching films and taking with me when I visit people with inferior technology.

The 32 inch monitor is a good 2m away and I can still play the game fine. Chat is small but not unreadable. Heck I can play most MMO's in bed now with a wireless keyboard and mouse but it's uncomfortable. Your logic of bigger screen = further away is true but only so far as that you sit as close as you need to sit.
