Topic: Continuous movement unable to stop

From the first time I log in and multiple logins afterward I continue to move and cannot stop. The WASD keys only modify the movement (D will stop me as long as I keep it pressed, A will go in another direction). The over the shoulder camera is over the left of the MEK, as in I see myself walk to the left (the MEKS forward). Num Lock (also auto run) will only studded my movement for a second. Double click with the mouse is not recognized (I do not go towards it).

I attempted to disable auto movement (double W key) in game menu, and unplugged my keyboard and mouse (assuming it was hardware related), with the same result.

I do not see this issue listed so it most likely is my computer, however I never had this issue with any other game.

Any help on this would be great.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

I have not heard of this one before. You could try deleting the .gbf file in the perpetuum install folder and then run the perpetuum client and it will download it again.

I say this because it could be some corruption in the .gbf file maybe.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

i got this, but it was down to a broken keyboard/power interrupt keyboard, so the keys were sticking, the way to stop it is to click on chat, so you can see what key is stuck. and get a new keyboard.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

have you a wheel (like G25) or analogic input devices (like sim yoke) ?
if yes check the configuration or unplug it.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

It sounds like there is an additional input or faulty keyboard at play.
Does this happen every time you start the client? I've had this issue in one or two games when they start up. If I am pressing a key as they start every time I am not pressing the key it registers as the key being pressed. Could be the same issue. Something to think about when starting the game but I didn't think perpetuum could be effected by that.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

Hmm, good one guys. I really didn't think it would be hardware though. I would think he would see this type of issue else too if it was his keyboard etc.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

it happens to me on another game, which conflicted with my G25.
very weird to see the menu becoming crazy or see your toon move without you controlling it lol

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

I have a Saitek Keyboard and Razer Naga mouse.

I thought maybe it was one of them, but I left them unplugged and I was still moving (without keyboard or mouse input). This does not happen in any other game, and when I pull up chat in-game, my MEK stops and I can chat normally (good test btw). Although I am not ruling a driver issue out (it is a whacky gaming mouse after all), or perhaps incompatibility issue with the game.

I do not have a Yoke, throttle or any other flight like input.
This happens every time I start the game, after a reboot, after creating a new MEK (can’t test del of MEK yet)

I will give the .gdf file a try, and let you know GM Gremrod, thanks.

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

Little issue with the download but after it was done, that did the trick. Thanks !

Re: Continuous movement unable to stop

I have this "issue" sometimes with my saitek merc stealth gaming keyboard.

The thing what happens (in my case) is that the W key on the left part, where mmo(r)pg buttons are, get physically stuck.. Only happens every now and then. Untill i figured out though wth was going on, it was quite funny smile
