but I've clarified myself in many answers and other threads.

but I think you and me, and hope many others are agree, for a deletion (to be able to change corpo and attributes) with refund, but during a LIMITED time (1-2 weeks) for the FIRST agent on the account and only for ON TIME.

I agree that each characters get a week in which it can be deleted and all spent (Not given from creation) EP is refunded. However I am not sure that's currently possible to work out unless it's already stored server side.

Well, you really dont "spend" your EP, at least according to the server.  I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but it works in a different way than you would think.

Lets say they delete an extension that you already had level 6 in.  Instead of simply adding adding that EP back onto your pool, the server recalculates your EP because that extension no longer exists.  It happens the same way when an extensions complexity changes.  The server automatically recalculates the "cost" and adjusts your total EP pool.

All that would have to be done is for the server to wipe any extension levels learned after character creation and it would automatically put those points back into your EP pool.  Nothing else would need to be put into the system thats not already there.

Respecifying your characters in a game was done through the class being flexible enough to have multiple rolls and just switching between them. That would be like switching a combat character to an ewar character. At the moment the low entry requirement for each area means you're able to do everything but not very well. It's easy to be a jack of all trades and master of none.

It's impossible to lose EP but it's very easy to spend too much before you need it and shoot yourself in the foot. If you spend all your EP in the wrong area it is your own fault. One or two level won't hurt in the long run and should be beneficial in some way at some point however training something above level 5 when you don't need it or it provides no benefits is a mistakes. The only thing I can think that would solve this would be to change your spark but that's just going to get abused by experienced players and further the gap between newbies and elites.

The only people who should be burned by this are those in early access because they will get a huge lumpsum of EP to spend all at once.  Then again people in early access should know what's up because they have presumably tested/read a bit about the game beforehand.

Allowing EP respecs kills all character progression within the game and should not be allowed even if it is a newbie char.  You can do what everyone has done for ages in a MMO if you mess your character up, reroll.  If you can't handle the pressure of the free 30 days of EP then take it slow and only spend it as you absolutely need to.

With the ability to create a new agent if you don't like your first one, there is no need to allow any sort of respec and the potential for abuse of any such system.

Within a week of playing, any intelligent person will have figured out how they want to specialise and a weeks "lost" EP is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Just say no to EP respecs.

EP spending on new characters for the blind or stupid needs to be a little more hand-holdey but you're right Vorgrim.

The bigger issue is giving 40k EP to an idiot and then have them bad mouth the game due to their own stupidity. I'm the type the always tries something first hand to see how it works but sheople will still listen to "warnings".

Any game that cuddles their new players generally does well. The older players are then see as rugged, handsome and sexy... I mean elite. This does wonders for their ego and the game continues to roll forward.

Any game that is cold and harsh to their new players ends up with only one type of player in the game which works out untill there is no one left to fight with and everything becomes staged, like crappy GM run PVP events because the players won't create content themselves. The less the Devs and GMs have to do the better the game.

If no EP respec then at least videos or an instanced tutorial/more extensive tutorial without the sensory overload.

stEvE has a free character restructure for new accounts limited to the first 2 weeks iirc. Something similar wouldn't hurt, to keep people from ragequitting, but anything after that grace period is open to exploitation.

Oh, I think I know what game you talk about...ever heard of Perpetuum? Check it out, it is exactly the game you talk about...poor devs have to make events to get anything going in that game.

I cant get how people want to be able to refund EP, the point of games like this is to spec in one or two things,  but be able to go missiles and get bored, or wait for them to get nerfed and lasers get boosted,  then the hole game deletes there agents and and make an equal good laser agent? naaa.

And Ep shouldent go to the acount. you should make one agent ''primary'' that the EP will go to. period big_smile

It's an anti-griefing measure. Someone can't run around being a total git, and getting a poor reputation and then delete the toon with the bad reputation and suffer no losses.

An EP return would be the same as a name/reputation reset. The perfect tool of corporate hanger thieves and spies.

Newb friendly = retention. If you want more players you need to do something to help them. Games that aren't newb friendly historically do very poorly or die early deaths.
