Topic: the general ideas thread for GUI

I'd like to centralise all the good idea the community can have to improved the all the aspects of the game GUI.

please post only new ideas !
if you feel the need, create a new post to debate with the feature's name for title

so let's start :

  • possibility to resize all the windows

  • uniformisation of the windows behavior, at the moment some windows can't be opened and closed with the same button or action (ex: when docking in a station, the cargo box can be opend withe the cargo button, but has to be closed with cross)

  • the echap key close the current window

  • possibility to make windows transparent

  • more futuristic HUD with more information (like avionics HUD in a SF style, arrow to indicate ranged target, distance to target, speed,...)

  • possiblity to change the camera view while moving with the left mouse button without changing the Mech direciton

  • possibility to fully zoom in the mecha, and why not with an inside view, or at least just the GUI without the Mech

  • option to apply a color on the name or collor flag for different purpose like : corpo, ally, ennemy, member of the squad, PNJ,...

  • TEXT size of course

  • random login screen

  • paint for the Mecha

  • GUI or graphics : stop the effect of laser, canon,.. at the target, unless the weapon has piercing capabilities

For any GUI changes a new GUI engine would be required. As far as I know they're working on one that will be scalable, uniformed and with more features.

I would however like to see left click turn camera and right click turn robot. A first person view would be interesting if it added a new GUI layout but I am not sure how that would work given this isn't an FPS.

use the perpetuum planner presentation for the extensions.
put 2 smalls pictures using the first letter and color of attributes just after the extensions names.
and make the name clickable to pop up the description

I agree that the extension window needs an a small overhaul with a couple of changes. Adding the icons like they are in the planner would be a great idea.

filter missions by : type, sequence, already done or not, lvl, zone,...

    - really ? the landmark with additionnal icons do the same

  • possiblity to change the camera view while moving with the left mouse button without changing the Mech direciton
    - you can do that, while moving by double  click on the ground or with the Approach order

  • possibility to fully zoom in the mecha, and why not with an inside view, or at least just the GUI without the Mech
    - no need

  • option to apply a color on the name or collor flag for different purpose like : corpo, ally, ennemy, member of the squad, PNJ,...
    - try the additional icons

  • TEXT size of course
    - Texte is fine Imo, however the modules icons are really too much big in the cargos

  • random login screen
    why not

  • paint for the Mecha
    - +1

I'll add :

- an option to block the radar spinning, and a directional arrow for yourself on the radar.
- Effects when repair is ON and on differents modules actions.
- Abilities to view assets in the differents bases

Agree with all three, but especially the first, being able to set the radar/map so north is always up is required for many to be able to give good info, would rather have to notice the way my arrow is pointing than have to search for the little compass markers every time i want to say where something is......."incoming east, er, i mean north!", a second can count in combat.
Would be nice to have direction or facing arrows for teammates, but not necessary....

Would also add putting in something to differentiate containers on the ground that are yours/your groups, have been in a few areas littered with containers because several people were leaving all but kernels in the cans, can be a pain hitting can after can asking for the code.......

window snap was an idea some of us brought up the other day with BoyC so that should be added to the list up there, i nice way to keep  the interface clean without us being all fiddly moving them about

I would like to see the ability to get the right-click context menu on names in chat like we have on the avatars currently.

Sometimes scrolling the list of avatars can be a pain.

my favourite change in the GUI would be:

improved sorting for every aspect. sorting by at least two criterias should be mandatory

like missionlog sorting by date AND contractor
Chatmember list sorting by corptag, standing or alphabetical

I would like an option to make the distance to target txt in landmark info and on enemy hud to be much bigger. I have good vision, but need to lean forward to make it out sometimes.

Scrollable, movable, dockable-undockable (like in google chrome) chat tabs.
When u have private messaging with 100500 people, this features is really missing.

I would like to see the landmark (overview) window overhauled. It def needs ability to add and save tabs. better functionality as far as ignoring certain objects. add a speed  column to the window aswell
