Topic: having a real difficult time

Hi all wanna first say i really love this game and will be subscribing that's a given smile however like the subject im having a real difficult time.
When i finish up all the tutorial missions and get my first mech i try to do a mission and i basically get raped majorly i can get about one down before i have to retreat and wait 5 min to get my armor back up and i have no clue about what im doing wrong.
Ive looked at the resistances and swap my ammo accordingly but while it helps out some im still taking forever and a half to kill something and ive come very close to loosing my mech quite often haha. any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Re: having a real difficult time

Hi,
could you be a little bit more specific: What Bot are you using? What equipment/ammo do you have? What are your targets? What is the main problem - are you running out of accummualtor engergy, do you have not enough armor, do you engage to many enemies at once, ...? What is happening on the battlefield?

Re: having a real difficult time

i am using the Prometheus ammo wise i change it around not sure if its the right thing to do but like i said i switch for resistances but no idea if that is a good idea or not. target wise ive been trying to kill the servant grunts for a mission. energy wise im doing ok no sure about the enough armor tho i do have a standard light armor plate equipped tho and i try to take on one at a time but more times then not i usually get like 3 coming after me so i try to focus on the one. equipment wise i use 4 hcl light lasers and a sensory amp

Re: having a real difficult time

Dooh, you are further in the assignments than I am, so take everything I say with a little salt.
If I am not mistaken than a "Grunt" seems to be a Pellestial bot. They are weak against kinetic damage, may be you can change your ammo to that.

Do you know http://forums.perpetuum-online.com/topi … -tutorial/Galahad's Combat Guide ? I recommend it.

According to http://forums.perpetuum-online.com/topi … nce-sheet/NPC Build Reference Sheet you are fighting DPS bots. You would probably better fighting scouts (like:  Filch).

Hope that helps

Re: having a real difficult time

I dont know whats your locking range and speed compared to theirs but try to force them to relock you, that means walk out of their locking range while you keep your lock on them and keep firing while they have to lock you again. Unequip that armor plate and use a lightweight frame instead. Speedtank (easier to force them to relock, armor plates makes you even more slower) is way better than just a bit more hp. Just tanking a whole spawn hp-wise alone is mostly very hard.

Yes, kitting is a great way to get the job done. (You can also use duck and cover tactics.) But range/kitting is best.

But your best approach is to go farm bots you can out range to make some nic and wait for EP to train up more so you can out range other bots.

Re: having a real difficult time

awesome thanks everyone for the helpful answers smile

Re: having a real difficult time

two tips:
1. chassis scanner:
i think the new training missions give you one as reward, use it once on each robot type and memorize the loadout.

bots with the same name have the same loadout.
"xxxx Grunt" is always a light missile bot with extra armor and a missile tuning.
"xxxx Herald" is always a light missile bot with lightweight frame and scanner

lightweight-frame = less Hitpoints = easier to kill, but runs faster
no tuning = less damage output = easier to survive wink

2. keep the factional resistance-gaps and primary damage in mind:
yellow bot = prone to seismic damage (bullets/missiles)
green bot = prone to kinetic damage (bullets/slugs)
blue bot = week to thermal (laser)

3. train your accumulator skills up to 5-6 minimum
accumulator expansion + energy management
and a 3-4 in "special op robot control"
and get your hands on a A150 small armor repair prototype -> then you should have no problems "tanking" with the prometheus

Re: having a real difficult time

would it be worth using a standard laser tuning? if so any idea where or what npcs drop them ive been doing some scanning and cant seem to find any that have it equipped

Re: having a real difficult time

Out by your level 2 missions id imagine. We get litterally hundereds of drops around Radholme on ICS Alpha Island, laser, EM and armor rep tunings mostly depending on which group we farm.

As others have said, look at each robots damage resistances and change ammo accordingly, also try to find and join an active corp, they can help you out and teach you more as well as help out with ammo etc.
