Topic: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

Currently, all mining bots are short one max targets.

Argano
Max targets = 2
Mining lasers = 3

Termis
Max targets = 3
Mining lasers = 4

Rivler
Max targets = 4
Mining lasers = 5

It would be greatly appreciated by those of us that mine if the max number of targets equaled the max number of mining lasers. This makes it so we can mine a tile per laser, so that 1 tile doesn't run out twice as fast as the others.

Not exactly a top priority, or a must have. But it would be a quick and easy fix to something that I'm sure nags many miners.

Edit: After writing this much about mining I needed to add a YARR! just to make sure I wasn't turning carebear. yarr

Where?

I see no dev posts, and like one player who thinks its a bad idea.

Maybe you and I have different definitions of what constitues a "clear No"

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

I agree. Miners are limited to always having at least 2 lasers on one target. The reason for this is unknown to me. It seems a recurring theme that robots have 1 less target than their maximum module slots.

It would be nice to get a reason from the Devs and then I'd leave it alone but it's come up many times and there has still be no answer.

Direct chat with Alf, 1 hour after this topic was created:
[14:11:49] GM Kami: so your answer to the mining laser issue is a clear no?
[14:16:27] Alf : yea

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

Interesting. I think they need to match the max target to the number of miners. Miners like to have different ways to be efficient.

Let's look at this closely.

Alf agrees that it is an issue.....

I think this can be talked about some more.

Dev Alf???????????

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

We will complain and *** and moan until at least something logical is explained to us exactly why they have the number of targets that they do.  Just some "no" from a dev answering a GM that was obviously leading him to that answer just isnt enough.

Whoever designed the mining robots must have just been semi-brain dead (I'm talking about lore here) to think that not having as many targets capable as the number of lasers they could equip it with was the best way to go.  If they would have asked anyone else that question during the design process, the answer would have been obvious.

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

It was either the system as it is now, or 1 more target +

I could make the mining modules "Primary target only" mods, and you would have to mine with all your miner on the same tile.

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

Because the only thing you could possibly consider has to come straight from the horses mouth or its blasphemy.

I see they've groomed you into the perfect GM.  Good boy.

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

Kami, are you just arguing for the sake of arguing? I know who you really are in-game. And I know you feel you must be anti-everything-M2S. But this argument is not just for me, but would benefit your corp more than ours. Since your a carebear corp. I find it amusing your opposed to it. And yes, it is "YOU" that's opposed it it, everyone else seems to think it's a good idea.

Edit: Toned down the flaming a little.

Re: A simple mining tweak that everyone would appreciate.

Well then I suppose the simple question is:

Okay, no.

Why?

As an Aside, Kami:

Next time you post something as word from the developers, and reference it, it may be prudent to actually include the reference. You can't honestly expect us all to have access to 24/7 chat logs from every channel.
